What to do if your computer is infected
- First disconnect the computer from the internet and any LAN
- Start the computer in Safe Mode or if it dont work use the startup disk windows
- Copy your important data on an external drive so as to have a backup
- Check running programs through the task manager process through helping library if you must, then close the unknown.
- Cancel the windows when they launch the virus. You can use msconfig, you can run through start-run.
- Cancel the programs that start running automatically. You can use msconfig.
- If this does not install an antivirus program updated and run a scan over the computer.
- View infected files, and proceed to the cancellation of the virus. Some viruses require special arrangements and then follow the directions given on the website of your antivirus program for their cancellation.
- Depending on the severity of the damage caused by the virus may be carried out at normal reboot the system to restore the operating system or the complete formatting and re installing windows. The latter hypothesis is strongly recommended if your computer is used for home banking
